Areas of cultivation It is common in Valle d'Aosta.
History The start date of production is still uncertain, some sources set it around the 8th century, others would rather import it to Valle d'Aosta in the year 1630. Another hypothesis is that the vine is native, chosen through Centuries according to a selection made from any modifications or spontaneous seminars.
Ampelographic features Medium-small leaf, pentalobata, top-light green leaf. Bunch of medium size, tight enough, cylindrical-conical, almost always with a wing. Medium, round, with thin skin, intense straw yellow, glossy and slightly pruning. The vine is very resistant to cold and climatic adversity and has well adapted to remarkable heights, even over 1000 m. a.s.l. This prerogative is due to a very short vegetative cycle.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety Straw yellow tending to the verdino. Delicate smell with background of mountain herbs. Taste dry, acidic, slightly sparkling, very delicate.
Notes Suitable as an aperitif, accompanied by delicious appetizers, with fish dishes or white meats, is also good with cheeses such as Fontina and Reblec.
