| History |
The Impigno is a very ancient white berry, located in Puglia, where it is supposed to originate, perhaps from the municipality of Martina Franca in the province of Taranto, although it is cultivated today especially in Brindisi. The origin, however, has not been established and its name is believed to be due to the winegrower who first introduced it to Puglia, in the Ostuni area, at the beginning of the twentieth century. |
| Ampelographic features |
The leaf is of medium size, pentagonal shape, quinquelobata, closed petiole breast with overlapping edges; Upper and lower side limbs closed (with overlapping edges). Lobies flat or bent slightly to the eaves, corner at the top of the terminal lobes: sharp. Swaddle or flat lining, with smooth surface. Top green bottle, glabra, matt. Bottom green light, furious flap, ribs of 1st and 2nd order protruding, purple and partially red. Very pronounced teeth. |
