Areas of cultivation It is common in the province of Trento, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, although it is increasingly used in the southern regions.
History The variety was created in the 1930s by Professor Luigi Manzoni of the enology school in Conegliano by crossing pinot bianco with riesling. Its parents are both grown predominantly in cool climates and Manzoni Bianco prefers the same, and as such is well-suited to the cool growing conditions found in many Veneto vineyards.
Ampelographic features Leaf: medium, pentagonal, pentalobata. Bunch small, short and tattered, often with a long wing. Medium medium-small, spheroidal, with a very persistent, consistent, yellow tending to the green.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety The wine obtained from the white Manzoni grape is of straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the palate it is sapphire, fine, kind.
