Productivity Abundant and constant (at ripening it is often found on the semisecchi grape bunch).
Growing areas It is very popular in the province of Verona, especially in Valpolicella and Valpantena, where it is considered native vine.
History The first news of this variety dates back to Pollini (1818). The denomination comes from "mulinara", because its grapes, seemingly pruinose, seem to be covered with flour.
Features ampelographic Leaf: larger than medium, slightly elongated, trilobated (sometimes referred to as the other two lobes); Wide open vein petiole; Upper side veins narrow to V, not very deep; Lower side breasts just mentioned; Little marked lobby, planes or cadents; Corner at the top of the rectangular lobe; Flat or somewhat wavy, rather consistent. Tops of light green, smooth, matt, glabra; Bottom grayish gray page with some hair along ribs; The ribs on the top of the green and unexpectedly green; On the lower side are green blurred in red at the base and protruding those from 1st to 2nd and 3rd order. Regular dentition, with slightly pronounced teeth, dotted, with wide base and convex margins, slightly mucronized. Bunch: medium size and more (about 20 cm long), elongated, pyramidal (sometimes cylindrical), usually with two short wings, right spatula, long, slightly big, herbaceous peduncle; Short pedicels, green, dotted, large; Strong, smooth, medium-yellow to medium, or rather small, roseish, central looking. Acino: medium size (15.7 mm diameter) spheroid and slightly elongated, of smooth shape and cross section; Reddish-purple skin, regularly distributed, very pruneous, of medium consistency, a bit thick: persistent navel; Pulp of medium consistency, of simple flavor, sweet, colorless juice.
Features wine The wine obtained from the Molinara grape is ruby red, transparent. The palate is kind, round.
Notes Resistance to disease: normal resistance to ojidiosis and dendrophosis; Very resistant to rotten grapes, so that grapes can be easily stored on the plant and fruit (this is used to prepare "recioti" wines); It seems to be attacked by the tignoli less than the other varieties of Verona; Exceptional casting and acinelling.
