History The Prunesta vine is an ancient Calabrian native. Some believe that the Prunesta could be the Capinia grape quoted by Pliny. The etymology of the name appears to be derived from the Latin pumice and is reflected in the abundance of wilt that covers the skin, almost like a thin mist.
