Chateau Pétrus

Pétrus is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation near its eastern border to Saint-Émilion. An estate of limited size, it produces a limited production red wine almost entirely from Merlot grapes, on occasion with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, and produces no second wine.
Although the wines of Pomerol have never been classified, Pétrus is widely regarded as the outstanding wine of the appellation.

Originally owned by the Arnaud family, the property was partially acquired by Mme Loubat, Libourne in 1925 and in 1945 became the sole owner. In order to compete with the great wines of the Médoc, Mme Loubat set to work to maximize the potential of his land. In 1961, M. et Mme Lacoste Lignac, grandsons of Mme Loubat, inherited the property. A few years later, M. Lignac sold to Jean-Pierre Moueix. Since 2001, the property belongs to his son Jean-François Moueix and Christian Moueix, the other son, who care management.
