Ruby red in color. Aroma: This medium–bodied wine is characterized by elegant, fruity notes and smooth, velvety tannins. On the nose, it shows intense and complex aromas of violet, typical of Sangiovese, followed by notes of ripe plums and red berry fruit, along with hints of black pepper and tobacco. Tasting profile: On the palate, this wine delivers structure and balance, with flavors of blackberry and currant that lead into a lengthy finish with lingering notes of roasted coffee and red berries.

History Santedame Chianti Classico DOCG is an elegant, classically styled Chianti Classico from Ruffino’s Santedame Estate. This estate is nestled in the fabled Golden Basin, or Conca d’Oro, where yields are naturally low, and flavors are rich and concentrated. Santedame is an authentic, smooth, and very pleasing estate wine produced in small quantities without compromise—a true expression of the terroir.

Soil composition Hilly land with poor soil, characterized by a mix of clay and sand, rich in fossil material.

Vinification Alcoholic fermentation, aided by racking and punching down, took place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of approximately 78 °F (26 °C) for 14 days. Maceration on the skins continued for an additional week.
Ageing After completing malolactic fermentation, part of the wine was aged in oak barrels, and then in stainless steel tanks for a total of eight months.
