Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion

This Château is in the Pessac-Léognan region, just south of the city of Bordeaux. Its 72 hectares produces both red and white wines. Larrivet Haut-Brion was not included in the Graves classifications in 1953 and 1959, having suffered a decline that resulted in replanting of vineyards after World War II.
The original name of the château was La Rivette, but in 1874, was changed to Haut-Brion Larrivet. Château Haut-Brion filed a lawsuit due to the change, and in 1949, it was changed to Larrivet Haut-Brion. In 2012, Larrivet Haut-Brion experimented with aging their 2009 vintage in the ocean in oyster beds at Arcachon Bay. The wines aged in the ocean were noted to have softer tannins and heightened flavors due to mild salinity.
