產區 The Arbane grape, in the vineyards of Bar-sur-Aube (France) and in the surrounding areas, is considered autochthonous and has resided in these territories for some hundreds of years.
歷史 It was a Champagne grape before the invasion of phylloxera, even if the winemakers have always seemed an intruder in the vineyard. Someone in the Aube still tells that in some years the grapes remained so hard, and immature, that it could be put in the rifle to shoot the wild boars that invaded the vineyard.
識別葡萄品種特徵 分類 The vine is characterized by the production of clusters that accept berries of different sizes, ie small and large, the peel is rather thick and resistant, so that it creates some problems in pressing. It is a late vine, so it needs to be planted on well-exposed slopes.
筆記 Then it is also not very productive and poor in health, although the hard peel is very sensitive to rot (even black), which explains why it was abandoned in favor of Pinot Noir and Meunier.
